Dicksie-Son is correct. We've only got one quality fullback and he's off for his last payday in the sun at the end of the season. We need quality on both sides in this area. This is the most glaring need right now, along with CM where we're paying some geezer 100k a week to not play.

Okay. 'Highly average'.

Either way, we need a serious upgrade on him.

Even Cresswell, with his own faults, is a better option.

Masuaku is shit. Anyone who can't see that doesn't have a Scooby Doo about football.

He sometimes (SOMETIMES) does well going forward. That's if he doesn't let the ball cross the byline as he usually waits until then to cross the fucking ball.

Defensively, he's an absolute fucking embarrassment against any half-decent attacking threat.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
I agree Armchair, Masuaku did fine defensively, and his attacking was his usual high standard. One of the things I absolutely loved about Saturday was seeing us, repeatedly, calmly playing the ball out of defense and the best examples of that involved Masuaku and Anderson, it was delightful. The kind of thing you expect from Man City and something I have not seen in West Ham for years, if ever, perhaps my memory is failing me...

Some of comments are weird. Arfur was solid all game. Christie was brought on second half to run at him and he coped easily. The player who made a few mistakes was Rice (not saying he's not going to be a great player but he fucked up in dangerous areas on Saturday, luckily against a weak team

He (Anderson) back tracked fine on Saturday... even got in one lovely sliding tackle... like I said... Arthur ain't a Left back

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Might have something to do with Zabaleta having Snodgrass to help him with tracking runners?

Much as Anderson is working harder, he's not exactly to be relied on with defensive duties.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Lets put it this way.... it seems like to me Rice does far far far more sweeping up and doubling up on the left hand side than he does on the right... might be under instruction to do that or maybe he knows Arthur is a fucking massive accident waiting to happen.... as he ain't a fucking left back...

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
To be fair to Masuaku, Saturday was one of his better games recently, but that really is damning with faint praise, and he was still quite poor. Got caught out of position on numerous occasions but got bailed out by Diop or Rice tracking back. Gave the ball away too many times and just looked like a general liability. Real weak link in the team and would have been punished against a half-decent team.

I don’t think he meant it like that, I think he identified the games as being winnable.

Was watching the interview at the end of the Southampton game and it made me laugh when Charlie Adam was saying about the need to pick up points from the sides around them, hey mentioned their next game, huddersfield then said us; its laughable he thinks we're a side around them.

Better than Kaka.....to me that was pretty much his only contribution...set them up 2 or 3 times with misplaced passes.....report card B-

Masauku did well, but for me Noble was MOTM. That ball for the first goal was absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Fulham v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 0-2
Arfur did well yesterday and I like many have been a huge critic of his defensive prowess (or lack of).

He has improved but still seriously lacking in aerial ability and positioning and we need better than him and Cresswell longer term.

Agree also that we need to sharpen our passing or accuracy but that is in part the lack of movement or speed of movement in central midfield. Again we need to improve that area with better first choices than Noble or Obiang longer term.

But yesterday we saw that the players know what are supposed to be doing and are buying into the Pellegrini way. But it will come down to the owners longer term. Do they think one big transfer window is enough and they return to their old ways of short term thinking and claims of FFP and cash shortages or will they realise a team needs to improve year on year.

2 great finishes but I wish we could keep the ball better. Time and time again we give it away and put the defence under pressure,

Still 4 wins on the trot can't complain I suppose, just an observation.

Yes.

I can recall Rice losing us possession in sensitive areas twice with wayward passes yesterday.

He’s only a squad player though according to Zero.

Went yesterday.First time at WH match i can ever remember being bored bcs we were winning so easily. Amazing support from WH fans. Antonio was very good. Fulham were shit. Declan Rice a bit below par at points. Cairney impressed.

Cresswell had got in ahead of Masuaku, but then got injured again.

Cleen sheet might keep Arthur in, but then again, Pellers has made it clear he wants to rotate regardless of how well individuals are playing because of so many matches, so don't be surprised if we see Cresswell again soon.
